Connecting Cheltenham

Cheltenham Borough Council has produced a "Connecting Cheltenham" strategy report. The "Connecting Cheltenham" strategy is aimed at changing the way people and goods travel around, with an emphasis on more active, shared and sustainable modes of transport reflecting the need to:

  • Accommodate growth
  • Promote health and wellbeing
  • Provide equitable and inclusive access to transport
  • Minimise harmful local and global environmental impacts
  • Maintain the quality of Cheltenham’s townscape

An activity was undertaken which sought views on the development of a transport strategy for Cheltenham from a range of individuals representing residents, education, business, transport, health, and developer organisations, together with partner councils. Cheltenham Borough Council are already using the strategy to contribute to the review of the Gloucestershire Local Transport Plan and as the basis for seeking funding. The Borough Council will also be developing a programme plan which identifies short, medium and longer term priorities and a timetable for delivery.
