Garden Community at West Cheltenham

Tewkesbury and Cheltenham councils have been working together to deliver what they are calling a Garden Community at West Cheltenham, a site allocated for development in the adopted Joint Core Strategy. This will include around 1,100 new homes and 45ha of employment land, including the Cyber Central hub. A planning framework has now been jointly prepared to help guide the detail of future planning applications on the site. This framework, called a Supplementary Planning Document (SPD), will provide a broad strategic masterplan setting out important principles including connections from existing neighbourhoods, the design of green spaces, new homes, employment spaces and community facilities.

At the meeting of the Executive Committee on Wednesday 8th January, it was resolved to approve a draft SPD for public consultation.

This consultation runs from 13th January and until 17th February 2020. The consultation includes a series of community drop-in events to be held in the surrounding area. A promotional flyer has been produced to advertise the consultation. It may be accessed here. The consultation is hosted on a dedicated website and can be accessed via this link.

Following the consultation the responses received will be reviewed to see if any changes to the SPD are necessary. A final version of the SPD will be submitted to a meeting of the Council to seek approval for its adoption.
